    Spiritual death involves the separation of the human being from God. When Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit, they were immediately separated from God in a spiritual sense. Their consequent action of trying to hide from God in the Garden of Eden indicates their awareness of this spiritual separation. “Surely not die” (3:4): The serpent was crafty.
