It should also be considered further whether the tendencies to preserve the ethnonational identity and form organized entities that maintain close ties with the homeland do indeed stem from growing realization among migrants that ethnic pluralism is a given; that an increased tolerance toward more moderate forms of ethnic existence and organization has recently emerged, especially in some Western countries; and that a continued separation between host societies and diasporas still prevails in nondemocratic countries.
