Okamuro Department of Biology, University of California Los Angeles, California 90024 INTRODUCTION In this paper we review briefly the research which has been carried out in our lab on the organization of soybean seed protein genes. The genes which we have concentrated our efforts on encode the storage proteins glycinin and B-conglycinin, the Kunitz trypsin inhibitor, seed lectin, and an unidentified 15,500 dalton protein. We are investigating these genes in order to understand the molecular events which regulate gene expression during plant development.
