Indeed, this Italian model offers many insights for our community colleges about what they could do for small local businesses by providing the design of new kinds of manufacturing machines, the training of workers to ha ndle these new machines, and of course, the teaching of industrial design, topics that we return to in Chapter 6.

To add insult to injury, in the 1980s when finance majors became more powerful and stock prices were the measure of success, GM bought and sold over one hundred companies whereas Toyota only bought four.
